| We say that the most important
thing taught at the Academy is
how to GET HOME SAFE! This means learning basic
and advanced skills of self-defense taught in a framework of
traditional Japanese Renshinkan shorinji Ryu Karate and Jujitsu. All students at
the Academy learn to perform internationally
recognized Karate Forms and Open Forms. They also are
taught the rules and training methods for youth sport kumite
(sparring). We train National and International champions. Students from the Academy have always been top competitors in state and national AAU Karate competitions. Integral to our youth training is learning the importance of discipline, self-control, respect, and self-confidence both in each student's martial arts and in their daily lives. |
|
In January each year we begin training our youth competitors for the AAU Karate season which includes state and regional tournaments and ends at the AAU Nationals Competition and U.S. Junior Olympics in mid summer. In the past, students from Renshinkan Martial Arts Academy have been some of the top in the country - including Florida state and U.S. Champions in 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006. In 2005, both youth and adult students from the Academy competed at the Renshinkan International Friendship Competition in Kagoshima, Japan. Competition is optional for our students.......however, all students are required to train to be champions whether they compete or not. |
